This was overly sappy, but I suppose it could've been worse. At least it made sense!
Bwahahaha, Megan's face when Lacey said she wanted to be a fashion designer. "...Right. Back to the Latin so that you can be the doctor or lawyer I just know you will." I admit, I am kind of enjoying Lacey's lackadaisical approach to academics. It's got to be driving her parents insane.
OMG OMG MEGAN HAS APPROPRIATE SHOES FOR WALKING THROUGH THE WOODS! Which Bud and Peter then make fun of her for. Guys, stop! This is a new step and we want her to keep it up! (I kind of loved how blindingly clean those red Keds were. Someone just took them out of the box that morning.)
"What is it with you guys? It's four horsemen of the Apocalypse, not horses."
Curtis, to Kate: "You're never this helpful." Oooh, burn.
"This is not in my job description." Ethan, this entire show is not in anyone's job description.
Awwwww, Ethan has Mr. Ed trauma! And that was an extremely quiet horse that just turned up beside Peter like that. And let Peter grab its reins without any kind of fuss.
Bud and Lacey are actually kind of adorable together. I can take or leave her, but I would actually like to see more of this. They should become friends. Him calling her a mini-Megan was cute.
Bud: Sure, I like Megan. But she's like liver. Six days a week is a little much.
Lacey: I wouldn't know.
OUCH.
Uuuuggghhhh, more Megan/Kate/Todd drama. I was originally thinking it felt repetitive because they were airing the episodes out of order, but I realized in watching this episode that they actually wrote four different "Megan and Kate come to some kind of understanding about the Todd thing" scenes, and just ignored them in favor of more drama. This does not fill me confidence for the rest of the season.
I did enjoy Kate and Megan literally putting their heads together to work on the body, though. Whyyyyy can't they just spend all their interactions being professionally kickass like this, why why why.
Okay, a show that can have its macho detective character call a suspect "Pagliacci" should really have better scripts than this one does. Because that was awesome.
Bud telling Megan he thinks Lacey wants to spend more time with her was sweet, but does strike me as the blind leading the blind. The end of that scene, where he was kind of teaching her to be a detective (you know, in a way that doesn't involve leaping to conclusions) was also nice.
Kate as Todd's "don't screw up Lacey for life" counselor was...interesting...
Dude, Ethan, after that impression you did I think I have Mr. Ed trauma.
asdfjkl; that scene with Megan trying and failing to both apologize to and thank Kate for talking to Todd about letting Lacey stay with her that weekend (and Kate prompting her until she finally spit it out! Bwah!) was fabulous, but can it please, please, please be the last Megan-and-Kate-make-up scene? Please? Like, generally they are good! This was hilarious, and I also appreciated Megan admitting that she was taking her residual anger at Todd out on Kate, but their goodness is being diluted by the fact that WE GET ONE EVERY OTHER EPISODE. It's already a stupid plotline; don't make it worse by giving us hope that it's going to go away and then pulling the rug out from under us!
Question: isn't suffocation something you would, I dunno, notice when you do an autopsy?
Awwww, Megan gets Lacey every other weekend. This is going to be a disaster.
Awwww, Megan and her oddly personal metaphor. :(
Megan: What if I screw up again?
Peter: You won't.
Awwww, he belieeeeeeeves in her!
...Okay, this episode has enough endings to rival ROTK. At least Lacey agrees to being shared?
P.S. Just me, or is DW crossposting suddenly failing for everyone else? It keeps telling me my password is invalid, even when I changed it. This is related to the other sitewide glitches, isn't it?
