I have 12 Dreamwidth invite codes if anyone wants to make a backup in light of LJ's recent DDoS attack troubles. The current rumors are that a pro-Putin youth group in Russia are attacking the site in order to shut up certain political bloggers. I've seen a few articles speculating that these attacks might be state-supported, but no one seems to know for sure. Either way, I imagine they're going to continue for a little while, at least, though LJ says they're buying new hardware to better compensate.

I can totally tell you Jeri's character's name! :D I'll be good and not tell you, but I hope you get into this show, because it seems like no one online is talking about it but me. And it was good this week!
My fic is basically Peter ruminating on why he likes Megan even though she's such a challenge, because I'm a big sap. And the other one is futurefic, with her being all, "I just had an idea about the case!" and him being like, "Can we please have just one date that doesn't end the lab? Please?"

I'm surprised they didn't occur to you as a pairing; I sort of figured I was just going with the really, incredibly obvious one, and felt a little embarrassed by how easily malleable I was. (Okay, so their relationship also has several characteristics that are complete me!bait, like the whole him-teaching-her-social-skills thing, the bantering, the way he's totally blase about her abrasive manner and she's kind of befuddled about why her bitchiness is having no effect, the way he's already kind of sticking up for her to everyone else... Still, I feel very Obvious McObviouserson.)
(P.S. Totally stealing *evilhetshipper*, because I definitely am one.)
On the other hand, I also wholeheartedly approve of Megan/Kate (WHOOPS, GAVE YOU HER NAME) femslash, because despite Jeri Ryan's criminally small amount of screentime so far, there is definitely something to work with there. Mmmm.

- *I just followed that thought up on wikipedia where apparently her surgeon did not do nice work with a botox injection at one point and so then she said she'd never have plastic surgery. I guess I will just assume she sleeps in a cryo-freezer at night!?

Date: 2011-04-08 05:58 pm (UTC)I was FLOORED when I read that. Absolutely floored. And yeah, apparently she sleeps in a cryo-freezer at night, because damn. I mean, I have the same kind of round, youngish-looking face that she does, and I'm regularly mistaken for ten or twelve years younger than I am (dear airline flight attendants, yes, I am old enough to sit in the emergency exit row, I swear), but I'm pretty sure I'm never going to look as great as she does at 55. I figured her for roughly 45, maybe a tiny bit younger, before I looked up her page on IMDB, and in some shots on the show she could believably pass for 30.
(Amazingly enough, Sonja Sohn [Detective Sam Baker] is FORTY-SIX. I was thinking 28.)
Jeri Ryan's whole personal life is just kind of a giant WTF. Not only with the political stuff, but she also dated Brannon Braga sometime when she was on Voyager (which took Seven's costuming to a whole new level of ick for me). Now apparently she owns a restaurant in LA with her newest husband.

True. On the other hand, one virtue of being obvious is that it might be one that actually happens on the show, which would make me happy! Dana Delany has mentioned in a couple interviews about the show, and on her Twitter, that while they're just friends now (and he's "kind of her conscience," which is another trope I fall for very hard), there might be more in the future.

I'm pretty sure they did, yes. Although Jeri Ryan said that this episode aired out of order, and that the whole date thing connected to a larger storyline we haven't seen yet, so maybe they did have their reasons. But I like the "so Megan could check her out" reasoning better.

Date: 2011-04-09 12:08 am (UTC)More inspiration: check out this tumblr for many wonderful pictures of DD. If you do a search for the show's name over the whole site, you'll also get a ton of picture-related results, and there are tags you can click on for each of the characters.
Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan both have their own Twitters too. They've been answering questions during episodes of the show, and while Twitter makes it really difficult to figure out exactly what question was asked, the answers sometimes stand on their own. From what I can tell, DD thinks Nicholas Bishop (Peter) is hot, and he's the "social director" of a cast that appears to have a lot of fun together. Oh, and she thinks Nathan Fillion is awesome and wants him to guest star on the show, possibly as Richard Castle, which earns her even more cool points, IMO. (I already think she's pretty amazing. Totally someone I'd like to hang out with, maybe talk books with.) Jeri Ryan appears to post a lot of links to funny pictures and websites, and tells followers happy birthday and good morning and whatnot a lot.
Further interesting info: DD actually got into a very bad car accident--was literally hit by a bus--a couple weeks before they started shooting. Got a concussion and broke two fingers, so the hand-rubbing she does on the show is less about Megan than it is her actually being in pain. :( (In an interview I can't find now, she says, "I never knew I was such a Method actor!")
