Is the cultural obsession in this country with a white Christmas entirely the result of that song? To be honest, I have never quite understood it. Perhaps it's a northern thing. At any rate, we're supposedly going to have snow on Christmas for the first time in seventeen years, and only the seventh time since people began keeping records in the 1860s, or so the National Weather Service excitedly informs me every time I visit weather.com. I will report back on whether the snow is in fact anything special.

In much more interesting news, holy crap, my camera can take THIS PICTURE:

It can also take a bunch of other pictures:

Beautiful pictures! I wish my camera could capture the night sky that well.

Happy Christmas :)

Pretty pictures! I think the White Christmas thing really pre-dates the whole song--at least Dickens. Think of A Christmas Carol. But a white Xmas in TN must be pretty rare. Strangely, we've had snow here the entire month.

That. Is. AWESOME! You are so not helping with "I want a new caaaaaaaaamera!" whine that has been going through my head the last few months.

Lol, since what, Teh Blizzard of 1993? Wait, wasn't that in April or something ridiculous like that? I remember a... vaguely off-white dusting of Christmas one year? A particularly-heavy-frost-Christmas? Silly Tennesseans! (We're getting a white Christmas here, too, and the Tennessean in me is a teeeensy bit excited.) : D

Your pictures are awesome (and make me want to go stargazing except it's insane below freezing just now). Have an awesome Christmas, white or otherwise!

I have no idea where the fascination came from, but I am SO EXCITED about getting some snowflakes on Christmas. Even though they probably won't stick. But still! Snow on Christmas!

Amazing pictures! I really liked the ones of the night sky.

I'm from the south, so I don't understand the whole 'white Christmas' thing.
