icepixie: ([Mad Men] Peggy in pink)

...Damned if I am not ever, ever, ever so slightly shipping Peggy/Stan after 6.8. Even if really, brother/sister is a much more apt descriptor for them. (Of course, I thought that about McMurphy and Richard on China Beach, and look what happened there.)

Peggy/Ted was...anticlimactic, but on some level I expected that. Peggy is just not made for the sordid activities of her fellow characters. Which is a good thing.

Speaking of which, um...I don't know if it's an improvement or a further spiral into degeneracy that Don added Betty to his list of affairs.

I feel bad for Sally walking in on him and Sylvia, though. Yikes. Poor, poor Sally.

I completely forgot to mention Lane's death in my last post. Wow. When the car didn't start, I was like, "Aha, the gun on the wall earlier about Jaguars being unreliable goes off! So Lane is thwarted and gives up his suicide attempt, RIGHT?" Oh, Lane. Poor baby.

I always enjoy when the show detours into the absurd, as with the lawnmower incident in season three, poor adorable Ken being shot in the eye, and Peggy bayonetting Abe. Bwahahaha! Also, thank god, Abe is gone. So boring.

Bob Benson (I keep wanting to call him Bob Barker) is a complete enigma to me, narratively. Was his entire existence a set up for that one scene where he came on to Peter and Peter freaked out? Why does he have a strange, unknown history? If there's a parallel with Don, I'm not seeing it. I'm also not really sure what's going on with him and Joan. Is he her gay best friend? Potential romantic interest? Why is she putting up with him when he's so ingratiating? Why does this character even exist?

In closing, I would like for Peggy, Ken, Joan, Dawn, and somewhat-grudgingly-Stan to form their own agency. What it would lack in drama, it would make up in RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Uhhhh, apparently someone wrote that fic, and it's awesome?)
