Dance, monkey, dance!
Nov. 30th, 2005 12:39 amBallroom has a new CD full of sambas, and one of them is very firmly lodged in my head. It has no words, though, only a collection of syllables repeated at irregular intervals, and...yeah. It's a great song, but it's getting annoying.
But speaking of Samba...in the weeks since I last attemped the combination that includes them, the criss-cross voltas percolated in my brain into something I can actually do. That's rather nice. now that Svetlana's taught us the correct technique and I don't feel like a weeble-wobble every time I dance it, I really like Samba.
I also found out tonight that I remembered more in American Tango than I'd forgotten, in particular the "swishies." (I'm sure there's a technical term for that, but we don't know it.) Once I got someone to show me the second half of the fan, I was all set. Ahhhh. It's nice not to be gimpy. It's also nice to be relatively work-free when everyone else is saddled with a bunch of final projects, so at the poorly-attended practices of this little time in between vacations, I can get people to show me the things I missed when I was dealing with massive research papers and dying computers and evil sinuses last month.
